Real stories told by real people, in their own words, 100 veterans, men and women, caught up in an all too real war. From the Delta to the DMZ, come walk in their boots. If you were there, you understand. If you weren't, grab a copy and you will, because they’re like Doritos. This is Volume 1 of 4. Try a few and you won't be able to stop.
The Vietnam War dominated my generation and affected so many lives in so many different ways. Some of us were drafted. Some enlisted. Some became war heroes, intentional or not, but most of us were just trying to survive. As we all knew, Vietnam was all about luck, good or bad. And there were hundreds of different wars depending on where you were, the year you were there, your service, branch, unit, rank, job, and race.
Whether we were truck drivers, helicopter pilots, infantryman, clerk typists, medics, engineers, MPs, sailors out on Yankee station, artillerymen, or cooks, from 1956 to 1976 from the Delta to the DMZ, these stories tell who we were, the jobs we did, our memories of that time and place, how it changed us, and what we did after we came home.
Unfortunately, what little our kids and grandkids know of the war comes from books that only focus on one soldier, one unit, and one year, or movies like Oliver Stone’s Platoon and Hamburger Hill, leaving people to think that all we did was crawl through the jungle on the Cambodian border smoking dope. But that wasn’t how most of us spent our year. Hopefully, these books will help correct that narrative.
William F Brown is the author of nine action adventure and suspense novels on Kindle, including the highly successful Bob Burke series, and Our Vietnam Wars, Volumes 1 thru 4, personal stories of the veterans who served there. His ministry and suspense novels include ‘The Undertaker,’ ‘Amongst My Enemies,’ ‘Thursday at Noon,’ ‘Aim True, My Brothers,’ ‘Winner Lose All,’ and ‘The Cold War Trilogy,’ as well as Burke’s War, Burke’s Gamble, Burke’s Revenge, Burke's Samovar, and Burke's Mandarin. Meredith Barnett: 5 Stars! A great read for my dad who served with 5/7 Cav in 66 & 67 in Vietnam I started reading this book on my iPad about a year ago I would read several stories at a time then stop and try to absorb these great stories of these heroes of the Vietnam war. I want to thank my daughter for talking me into reading this great book and also you Mr. Brown for doing a great job looking forward to Vol 2.
Amazon Customer: 5 Stars! Great book for a veteran We bought this for my father in law for Christmas. He was a plane specialist (I don't know his actual title) in Vietnam and he is an avid reader. He blew through this book. He really enjoyed it.
Phillip Martin Griffiths: 5 Stars! VALUE FOR MONEY From the United Kingdom. GREAT READ ****
GranJan: 5 Stars! The Truth is in the Telling This is the most haunting of books! I did not serve, but many of my friends did. My brother-in-law died of Agent Orange 45 years after the fact. Other Vietnam veterans that I have known didn't last that long. One thing I have learned from my combat-veteran Marine husband is that we will never know what serving is truly like. And, judging from his PTSD and nightmares, I'm glad for that. This book helped me understand a little more what it was like to be there. I believe that I will re-read this book every so often as it is tough to comprehend in just one reading. Thank you so much for telling their stories!
Hank Lajoie: 5 Stars! Brief, Personal Accounts Tell A Longer Story Kudos to the author: this is an excellent primer for anyone who wants to know more about our misadventures in Vietnam. Individual accounts explain some of the events that shaped the entire Vietnam experience.

My newest and 22nd book, "Burke's Double Down," Book #8 in the Bob Burke action-adventure thriller novel series is now available in Kindle E-Book, Amazon Paperback and Amazon Hardback editions, Kindle Unlimited, and some in Audible audiobook editions in English and Spanish. Like most of my other books, it will soon be out in German, Italian, French, and Spanish editions.
Bullets, Bombs, Mayhem, and More Fun! It’s Vegas, baby and time for the new Bob Burke action thriller #8, Burke’s Double Down. When a young girl is brutally kidnapped, there are three people her Las Vegas casino mogul father calls for help: the head of the FBI, the hatchet man for Brooklyn Mob, and Bob Burke.
With the Merry Men at his side, a .50-caliber Barrett sniper rifle in his hand, and the Geeks on their computers, he’s coming to get her. Then, he’s coming to get them.
Mild-mannered and slight of build, this telecommunications company executive is often dismissed as the "telephone guy." But after five combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, this former Army Ranger and Delta Force commander is one of the most lethal killers the US Government has ever produced.
From the glitz and glitter of The Vegas Strip to nuclear test sites in the rugged Mojave Desert, no one can be trusted. But if you kidnap a helpless young girl or hurt one of his friends, whether that’s in Chicago, Moscow, Armenia, or Las Vegas, the Ghost will find you. When he does, he will double down, and payback will be a bitch!
Looking for a good beach book or something to curl up with in front of the fire, this fast-moving action-adventure thriller is #8 in the series from the author of Burke’s War, Burke's Gamble, Burke’s Revenge, Burke's Samovar, Burke's Mandarin, Burke's Rescue, Burke’s Machete, and now Burke’s Double Down. They were preceded by The Undertaker, Amongst My Enemies, Thursday at Noon, Winner Lose All, and Aim True, My Brothers, as well as his Our Vietnam War series, Volumes 1-4, with interviews and photos from 240 American and allied Veterans. Together, these books have over 1,000 Kindle 5-Star Reviews. Enjoy!
Aim True, My Brothers, is a contemporary, American political action thriller, as Middle East terrorism explodes on American shores. Amongst My Enemies is about the secrets and gold lying inside a rusting German U-boat on the bottom of the Baltic. Winner Lose All is about the scramble to grab the Nazi super weapons plans and engineers at the end of the war. In The Undertaker someone is burying bodies under other people’s names and Pete and Sandy are next on the Undertaker's list. Thursday at Noon is set in Egypt in 1963 and it is up to a burnt-out CIA agent to stop another Middle East war.
I am also the author of four screen plays, which have won or placed in numerous screenwriting competitions, and one was optioned for film. In my rapidly diminishing spare time, I like to travel, paint in acrylics and oil, and play bad golf.

This unique format of a hundred short stories is really effective, and allows one to learn about a hugely wide array of roles in the conflict. All were interesting - after all, how else can you learn about the life of a cook, a nurse, a Donut Dolly in the Vietnam war. In addition to the more familiar tales of the warriors themselves. I also loved hearing how their various lives panned out after the war, but was horrified to learn of the long term effects of Agent Orange and PTSD. This book I recommend highly

5.0 out of 5 stars ‘When we got home, no one wanted to hear about the war, and we quickly learned not to bring it up.’Reviewed in Australia on 19 May 2021
Florida author William F. Brown has penned nine suspense novels and four award-winning screenplays. His specialty is thriller stories that step into the arena of espionage – a very popular topic at this particular time. William is a native of Chicago, received undergraduate and graduate degrees in History and Russian Area studies and City Planning from The University of Illinois, and served as a Company Commander in the US Army. He then raveled widely in the US and abroad as a Vice President of the real estate subsidiary of a Fortune 500 corporation. William is also a landscape artist.
William’s powerful book covers the Vietnam War from 1955 to 1975 and is reported in article format by 100 veterans of that war. The articles are brief but pungent and are accompanied by the photographs of the veterans at present and at the time of service. The result is a survey of all phases of that too long and miscalculated war in Vietnam that drew such negative attention from not only the Vietnamese but also from the global communities – such as France who had just left the Vietnam landscape as we arrived. But even more pungent is the crisis at home – the flowerchild protestors who greeted returning veterans with disrespect, an aspect of returning home to the very people for whom they were protecting that simply compounded the rampant PTSD and Agent Orange illnesses that resulted from serving in Vietnam.
This book is important to read for the descendants of the veterans and perhaps it will help communicate the too often buried thoughts about the Vietnam conflict. For those of us who served in that war (this reviewer was a Battalion Surgeon assigned to the USMC directly out of Internship during the peak of the war) this book provides a sense of camaraderie – a relief that some are addressing that contentious war form the stance of those who were directly involved.
And as we continue to drudge through the incessant wars in the Middle East (and at home) perhaps Brown’s book will provide some insights into the mental strain and scars that war in general inflicts. As Wilfred Owen stated, ‘My subject is War, and the pity of War, The Poetry is in the pity.’ Recommended reading. Grady Harp, May 21

Mal was anderes zum Thema.

I have read a bunch of books about the Vietnam War. This one was unique in the fact that you got 100 different views of the war. It made for great reading and I will be going onto volume 2

4.0 out of 5 stars The Real PeopleReviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 February 2023

What’s to dislike, this was real memories from real people that went through that surreal situation, they tell it as they saw it. A fascinating inside to one of the most discussed and derided parts of American history. God bless them all.
