In the wake of last night's disastrous presidential loss for Kamala Harris,
Bernie Sanders is taking harder shots than he has ever taken against
the Democratic Party, and I welcome it.
I will allow it because it is necessary.
Now, in an open letter, he slams the Democratic Party for focusing
on the wrong issues while simultaneously ignoring the needs of the American people.
He writes as follows.
It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic party, which has
abandoned working class people, would find that the working class has abandoned them.
First it was white working class and now it is Latino and black workers as well.
While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo.
The American people are angry and want change.
And they're right.
He continues today, while the rich are doing phenomenally well, 60%
of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and we have more income and wealth
inequality than ever before.
Unbelievably real inflation accounted for.
Weekly wages for the average American worker are actually lower now
than they were 50 years ago today, despite an explosion in technology
and worker productivity.
Many young people will have a worse standard of living than their parents.
Now to my absolute favorite excerpts from his open letter.
He writes today, despite spending far more
per capita than other countries, we remain
the only wealthy nation not to guarantee
health care to all as a human right.
And we pay by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.
We alone among major countries, cannot even guarantee
paid family and medical leave.
So the reason why I love that so much is because he focuses
on how much we're spending and how little we're getting in return.
And honestly, it makes me think about all of the pretty little lies that
the American electorate is told about.
Oh, you know, Europeans have a better quality of life for sure.
And they get a much better social safety net, better social services.
That's definitely true. But they pay such high taxes.
What do you think the average American is doing?
We're paying real high taxes as well, but we don't get nearly even close
to what Europeans get for what they pay for their taxes.
Okay. What does what do our taxes fund, Jake?
- War. - War.
Okay.
Redistribution of wealth from the bottom to the top.
My favorite argument from Israelis when Americans complain about funding their
war is, why are you guys complaining?
You give us military aid, and we use that money to buy American weapons.
Okay, that is the redistribution of wealth from the American electorate, the American
taxpayers to a handful of executives who work at these weapons manufacturers
and private defense contractors.
Okay, that's where the money's going.
It is a redistribution of wealth, something that Republican politicians
complain about because they want you to believe that it's money from the top,
trickling down to the bottom.
That's not what's happening here.
It's money from the bottom that has been trickle not trickling up,
but just flooding over to the top.
People who are already tremendously wealthy
and we don't have health insurance.
We don't have nearly the types of social safety net programs that Europeans have.
He also writes today, despite strong opposition from a majority of Americans,
we continue to spend billions funding the extremist Netanyahu government's all
out war against the Palestinian people,
which has led to the horrific humanitarian disaster of mass malnutrition and
the starvation of thousands of children.
I'm happy that Bernie seems to be the only Democratic politician
who hasn't forgotten about what's happening to the people in Gaza.
Yeah.
So first of all, Bernie, it's good to have you back, brother.
Okay.
Credit to Rashida Tlaib, of course, as well.
Right.
So, what happened to Bernie for the last four years is, in my opinion,
he believed that Joe Biden was his friend,
and he believed that working with the establishment would get it, all these
progressive policies that he believed in.
I said he was being naive, and they weren't going to do any of that.
And on day one, we found out they weren't going to do any of that
because they pulled his beloved $15 minimum wage as their very first act.
Joe Biden said, take it out of the bill. And they did.
Okay.
So and then it led to a series of betrayals.
And so what?
He put on a happy face, and I think that he really believed it.
And and I think that he believed that, oh my God, we got some good things
passing the Inflation Reduction Act, etc..
And it wasn't all bad.
There were some decent things that were passed.
But to me, the, you know, negotiating drug prices is a perfect example because
there's tens of thousands of drugs.
And they said, oh, we're going to negotiate prices on ten of them
eventually through to 2026.
And we'll start with one.
Now, when you do one out of tens of thousands of drugs, that's not because
you're trying to lower drug prices.
That's because you're trying to pretend to lower drug prices
while you actually protect higher drug prices for 99% of drugs.
So I think that today, the reason why the Bernie we know and love is back
and making these good,
tough points against the establishment is because he realized, oh, no,
working with them didn't lead to anything that they said would happen.
They promised this, that.
And the other thing they promised they knew how to run a campaign.
They promised they'd do it the next time around.
And what happened?
There is no next time around. They didn't know how to run a campaign.
They never got the great majority of that stuff passed and they never meant it.
So. But when you're when you play footsie with the establishment and you buy into
their, you know, ideas that of gradualism, and eventually we'll get there.
It's a trap.
They're not ever going to get there. They don't intend to get there.
So so are you ready for the part that you're going to love the most?
Yeah.
So he gets into money in politics, which he's been talking about more and more
in press interviews and things like that, but he certainly touched on it.
In this letter, he writes, Will the big money interests
and well-funded consultants who control the Democratic Party learn any real
lessons from this disastrous campaign?
Will they understand the pain and political alienation that tens
of millions of Americans are experiencing?
Do they have any ideas as to how we can take on the increasingly
powerful oligarchy, which has so much economic and political power?
Probably not.
In the coming weeks and months, those of us concerned about grassroots democracy
and economic justice need to have some very serious political discussions.
Stay tuned.
Yeah, well, I'm staying too, and I'm curious what he's going to do,
but I'm glad that he's at least at least let go of this fantasy
that the establishment Democrats are going to win, do something positive, etc.
And look, the reason, number one reason why they don't talk about money
in politics is because it would offend their colleagues.
And so if you watch The Young Turks regularly, you've heard me
say that a lot of times, right?
And that's why even the squad went in.
We said, don't take corporate PAC money. They didn't.
Terrific.
And we said, now go challenge your colleagues on money and politics.
They're like, whoa, no way, no way.
Because then they would get mad at me and that wouldn't be a good team player.
We didn't send you to be a good team player.
We sent you to overturn their applecart.
That's the whole point of being a progressive and fighting for the voters.
So if you went there to be a Democratic colleague,
but God, we wasted our time, right?
So now, look, I don't know where the squad stands.
I don't know if they're angry.
I don't know if they realize economic populism is the right direction to go.
I don't know if they've learned anything, but at least Bernie's back and he's
the the actual leader of the movement.
And so it doesn't mean he's going to run again.
But what it does mean is he can energize and unite people
and get back on the right track and not kissing the ass of the establishment,
not hoping and praying and pleading with the establishment
that they'll do the right thing,
take them out, take them on and challenge them and say, yeah, when you take
that corporate money from drug companies and you vote for higher drug prices,
you're not my colleague.
You're a corrupt politician that's destroying our ability to win
and do positive things in the world.

By the way, guys, you forgot to mention that for their taxes, most Europeans (as well as Israelis) get a free college education. Something for which we in the US have to borrow and go into hock for decades just to "advance economically..." Tons of under-and mis-uninformed citizens in the US is all I can say.
Be well.

Don't care what Bernie has to say. He's a misogynist who screwed us in '16...which would have made the last 8 years sane. 750k died from Covid as a direct result of TFFGs fragile ego, cancerous narcissism... because Bernie turned too many voters against HRC.
And now, neither he nor you folks have the cajones to call out the very real possibility that this race was stolen. Nope, instead you want to eat your own. People doing that are the real reason Dems fail. Have the guts to call for an investigation into a race where the numbers don't add up. Stop going after each other because you eejuts know that Russia interfere in our elections, that obscene billionaires will absolutely cheat because they know, unlike you folks, that this was their only real chance of putting forward Project 2025 to take over America. The money - more than we can imagine - was there and y'all want to pretend those horrific folks wouldn't take extreme measures for their own benefit???
And love the postmortem.... so helpful... and WTH were y'all during the campaign? I was yelling Project 2025 and NONE OF YOU wanted to focus on it. So yeah, bitch about Dems and let the fascists get by with taking our country away. But we'll survive. Well...seniors won't. Poor people won't. Sick people won't. Too many women won't. Children won't. Ukrainians won't. Palestinians won't. But that's okay... it's a sacrifice you're willing to make to not have those fascist traitors on the right call you conspiracy nuts. Damn...

The American obsession with spending ever increasing amounts is obscene. President Eisenhower was right on January the 17th 1961 when he said, "In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist." The spending on armaments continues to grow year after year.

A wake up call for the frogs in the slowly heating pot. In the 50's, 60's, and 70's, it only took one pay check to support a family, home, car, food, insurance, healthcare, and a vacation. Now 2 or more incomes are needed to supply a family with the necessities. Who is profiting from all these hours that are not financing the American family? Record number of billionaires and millionaires, who have bought politicians and wrote tax code that benefit only the rich. Billionaires who have bought the supremely corrupt court so when they pollute, steal wages, cheat on regulations, they get a parking ticket in the dual justice system they set up.

(1) A rebuttal, in 4 parts, to Senator Bernie Sanders self-aggrandizing and cannibalizing complaints and a rebuttal to his “vote for bad, because worse is over there” campaigning methods. Although I believe that there is a lot of good ideas and information in what Senator Bernie Sanders has to say, I am getting a little tiered of his sanctimonious lectures. What I saw he did for Harris on the campaign was say to people, “I think she is bad, but she is not worse; so, vote for bad and not worse”. And go on to preach the gospel according to Bernie. So, I ask, “what has Senator Sanders done over the decades to incrementally improve the lives of the citizens of the USA”. Meanwhile, Liberals now indulge in self-cannibalization.

In the decades that the GOP controlled the language of the political narrative, while the GOP shifted the whole of the political environment to the right, while the GOP incrementally improved the GOP’s political position and increased the GOP’s political power; liberals wailed and gnashed their teeth and kept going for the Big-Win. And Senator Bernie Sanders has continued to say all is bad, while he never seemed to work for incremental improvement. Meanwhile, now Liberals indulge in self-cannibalization.

(4) Has Senator Sanders worked to get Public-Private partnerships established to keep rural hospitals open and running at some level. Has he worked to get grants to have basic health clinics where they are sorely needed. Has he worked to get grants for mobile health clinics, mobile dental clinics, mobile seed banks and small garden experts for people who don’t want charity but do want fresh vegetables. Has he worked to get grants for urban gardens to flourish – a little land and a little help goes a long way. Has he thought about reducing the voting age to 16 years old – now that would shake things up: Scottland seemed to do well with the implantation of that little gem. In short, what has Senator Sanders done other than say, “This is bad, this is better, but vote for bad because worse is coming”. Meanwhile, Liberals indulge in self-cannibalization.

I totally agree with Bernie. Bernie was always my first choice. And because of what the Dems did to him twice I voted none of the above. I voted my conscience and the lesser of 2 evils is not a choice. Hence, none of the above. Now, I challenge the democrats. If they have an ounce of integrity they will nominate Bernie for Speaker of the House. He will be third in line if anything happens and he will be one of the most powerful influences in Congress. Just where he needs to be. Now more than ever in our history. Speaker of the house can go to any elected official in Congress. And its true Getting Bernie in as Speaker of the House has never been done before but that doesn't mean it can't be done. It just means we never did it. But this is a time of firsts and it needs to happen. Lets do it. I invite Bernie to announce. he will run for Speaker. Lets do this people. It is time!!!!!!!!

This post explores the concept of the psychological wage as articulated by W.E.B. Du Bois, examining its implications for political engagement and social change among poor white individuals in the United States. It investigates how the psychological wage obscures economic hardships and fosters a false sense of privilege that disrupts working-class solidarity. By analyzing the intersectionality of race, class, and geography, particularly in the context of the 2024 presidential election and the latest NBC exit poll data, this research highlights the systemic dynamics that influence civic participation. Policy recommendations are provided to address the challenges posed by the psychological wage, ultimately advocating for equity and informed political engagement among marginalized groups.
The concept of the psychological wage, introduced by W.E.B. Du Bois in his seminal work, “Black Reconstruction in America”, serves as a critical lens through which we can examine the intersection of race and class in the United States. The psychological wage refers to the intangible benefits that white individuals receive, which serve to elevate their social status despite their economic disadvantages. This phenomenon creates a false sense of privilege and superiority, allowing poor white individuals to overlook their economic struggles while perceiving themselves as part of a socially superior group.
The implications of the psychological wage are particularly pronounced in the contemporary socio-political landscape, where issues of race, class, and identity have become increasingly intertwined. The recent 2024 election has further complicated these dynamics, as populist rhetoric has exploited the fears and anxieties of working-class individuals, particularly those from white backgrounds. The NBC exit polls reveal significant trends among different voter demographics, emphasizing how psychological factors impact political engagement and healthcare access.

Very simply, Americans were not given one good reason for why the government keeps telling them inflation is something beyond their control. The pandemic caused inflation that then became fleecing. Retail providers had record profits but Americans were told the president's hands are tied on such matters. They don't believe it. You can't get people to trust you'll fix a problem you refuse to explain. This of course does not include people who like Trump because they are racist homophonic etc. I hate that rotting peach but I was not surprised he won.

Did Bernie’s supporters stay out of election again? I do respect of his fighting spirit, but he is not strategic, neither his supporters.

The DNC has always been a center-right party. Their kowtowing to coprorate America is well documented. Clinton repealed Glass-Steagall, Obama didn't go after bank CEOs for the 2007 mortgage fraud across the entire industry.

the silver lining of this election is that we may finally see the end of the influence of centrist geriatric dinosaurs like pelosi, schumer, biden, clintons (bill and hillary) on the democratic party!

Bernie should have ran. Even if he were to lose he needs to be heard. He has always had the right solution to ongoing issues in the country. He's old but still very lucid and just look at what he's preached since he started in politics. He's a gem.

The Democratic party can't have sufficient support from both men and women unless almost all men support and understand women, AND almost all women support and understand men. Mutual understanding is always better and sustainable, whether individuals, family, or larger groups. The ability to genuinely seek understand of others happens randomly, because it's not provided in K-12 education. America is not currently a community, but possibly could be if it could practice social maturity and get past its addiction to Us-win They-lose. One would hope that us humans could be better than our lower primates.

The war in Ukraine is a just war. Russia is committing rape, murder, and genocide in Ukraine. Here is what was discussed on Russian State TV: "Russian state TV guests discussed a plan for world domination after nuclear war with the West during a debate on current global tensions due to the Ukraine war." Blaming Democrats when they do not control Congress is laughable. Bernie Sanders failed spectacularly when he was a candidate. It might feel good to blame the Democrats for everything that is wrong but until and unless we give Democrats real control of Congress it is just noise.

I got as far as... "I will allow it". Who wants to listen to political commentators who speak in this dictatorial way. As a socialist, even I find this leftists arrogance off putting. These commentators are just as removed from the people as the ruling elite.

Ok THIS is why the Democratics loose. Immediate blame game against yourselves. Do you honestly think Bernie would get legislation through when it gets blocked by Congress. The Republicans won because they are a united force to be reckoned with. All you guys complain about the mainstream media yet all you focus on is either tearing each other apart or demonizing the other side. Figure it out and get your shit together. It wasn't Liz Cheney or Gaza or Hitler Trump it was the fact that you guys can't sell a message for your party if your life depended on it.

A new party is needed. We need choice, we are the only advanced industrial country that has less choice in politics than in any other part of our lives. A new party with Bernie's ideas at its foundation and him as the founder will attract 80% of the US day one. Call it what you want. Register it and see, Choice is freedom.

Yall missing the whole story. Yall are wrong. Trump did absolutely nothing. By net, he did not gain any voters. The problem was Kamala lost 12 million votes. The only reason why Trump won because less people voted.

Yes, we spend more on military and weapons, etc than anybody else at the expense of social safety net, but doesn't that mean Europeans, with a higher standard of living for all, greater equality, are free to do so because they rely on the US umbrella. In effect, we subsidize them, while they enjoy their vacays and Rx proces.
Their priorities will change because Putin. Plus, the Donvict in chief ain't a fan of NATO, etc.
I think a new season is upon us all.

I have a lot of friends who voted for Trump. All this "Harris lost cause of this, that, this, that." is 0% why any of them voted for Trump. None of them can even name a single Trump policy or branch of government, they only care about Trump's charisma.
Which is just blatant ignorance, they don't give a fuk bout climate change or gay people or whatever.

We spend much more simply because pharma will not allow the FDA to "Evaluate These Statements" meanwhile, they have been evaluated by people far more honest and intelligent than they are..... across the big pond. Consider the recent data on Ivy, Fenben and Meben vs the worst dx you can get.

The Democratic effort to win with VP Harris for Presidency cannot be totally at fault at losing. I think we as Americans aren't as exceptional as we thought of ourselves. The USA has excellent and painful complex history but the internet became a double edged sword exposing the underbelly of the human psyche.

So stupid!
That is really misleading... Israel gets only 3.8Bn USD per year to purchase weapons to defend them from Jihadists.
But here is the thing... Egypt and Jordan gets the same aid, also against Jihadist, that you Turks so love.
Now the US budget is in trillions.. so the aid to Israel is not even 0.01% of the US budget...
Clearly you are trying to ignore the big picture.
This channel is brainwashing lightminded antisemites

No nuts Sanders showed so much promise for the left and voters in his 2 runs for the democratic primaries and let it all slip away. His inability to confront His Friend Alzheimer’s Joe for his blatant lies and deceit lead to his overwhelming loss in the 2020 democratic primary. The habitual liar and corrupt Biden was already well on his way to Alzheimer’s or dementia and not one word was said about it also. It was a shame or a sham in the Democratic Party !

Bernie is absolutely right. Dems have lost their way. They need to focus Paid family and medical leave, child care tax credits, minimum wage increases. By the way, Israel has universal healthcare, yet we give THEM billions of dollars. Where is OUR healthcare. Instead we get health insurance companies with a business model based in denying coverage and having billions in profits.

One good thing about this election is that Trump also won the popular vote....so there is no getting around the fact that america is going to get what they want and deserve. With all the crazy and corrupt things trump says/does...he at least knows how to sell himself to his voters.. ..he know americans have short memories.
During Trumps first term...he was out on tv and media constantly selling himself while president.....always trying to convince people things are great...even if they are not.
Where the F has biden been? MIA. Senile old man that had ZERO business as president...with a bunch of dem politicians constantly lying about his mental state until the debate showed the entire world. And then still he tried to stay in ..eventually dropping out at last minute leaving no other alternative that Harris...who had even worse approval ratings.

This race was over when an elderly senile man with approvals in the 30's lied and ran for re-election ...thus preventing a real primary ...and then ONLY dropping out at the last minute when his loss was GUARRENTEED. where the real only option was a black women that had even worse approvals then Biden.
Make no mistake..this election was winnable if Dems had a primary and then blame biden for border and inflation and show how we are going to get rid of the dinosaurs like that....but that didnt' happen.
Further, is running a black women that no one wanted as president during the previous primary and was picked as VP cause she was a black woman (whether people admit or not, thats why) that smartest thing to do with Trump running for president? Idiots.
