In October 2017, several hundred women came together at the International Women Space conference "When I came to Germany" to talk about arriving in Germany, working and living here, and political organization as women in this country. This book brings together the stories and knowledge of 22 women from different generations about migration, racism, feminist struggles, and self-organization in their political and historical context. The women are refugees, migrants, non-white Germans, East and West Germans, illegal immigrants, workers, academics, artists, and activists. They provide personal and radical insights into their biographies, their communities, and their solidarity groups. Their successes and their resistance point the way for the common feminist struggle that lies ahead of us.
