IFOAM is currently implementing the project “Bridges for Organic
Knowledge in Korea“, co-financed by the European Commission.
This is a partnership between IFOAM and the DPRK stakeholders,
under the coordination of the Pyongyang International Information Center for New
Technology and Economy (PIINTEC), the only authorized IFOAM affiliate in DPRK. As
a capacity building project aimed at contributing to improved food security in DPRK,
this project will spread understanding and knowledge of organic agriculture
across various national stakeholders, but will also create links with
international organic actors. The inception phase is ongoing and Zejiang
Zhou, IFOAM Asia Office Coordinator, has just returned from a 10-day visit
and fact-finding mission to Pyongyang, which he conducted together with an
external consultant specially recruited by IFOAM for the assignment.
