A film by Francisco Vargas. Upon returning home, Don Plutarco, his son Genaro, and his grandson Lucio discover that the army attacked their town by surprise. His double life as musicians and guerrillas can no longer be hidden. While Genaro and the guerrillas plan the counterattack, the old man has his own plan: he goes alone to the town to rescue the ammunition, but when he plays his violin in front of the troops, everything becomes complicated: the Captain, a secret music lover, forces him to return to play every day ... Will the old man manage to get out of the wolf's jaws alive to help his family?

That's my estimate. It is very sad that while these wonders are forgotten, those shit are the ones that reach the masses and succeed.
Luis Mustard
Well, this fucking shitty movie shouldn't be without the 18-year-old restriction, because it's not normal for this to be put in a high school
Said Miranda
Luis Mostaza This film is not explicit or graphic at all. It is its main quality without a doubt. Everything is suggestion. It only has the opening scene of the rape, but it is neither extensive nor vulgar. It is raw, it is reality. I don't see a problem with it being shown in schools.
Sam Sami
Luis Mustaza and morality is a fucking tree that gives blackberries is not good for a shit, don't be a closed mind. It's good for university classrooms.

But then they play movies like that, and just people with comments like yours discriminate against them. I met someone who said the same about Mexican cinema. But when I invited him to see a dream of another language and Ana and Bruno, he told me that Mexican cinema was really fucking good. As an additional note that we went to see avengers.
Sam Sami
Don plutarco won the first award in Cannes for best actor without being an actor. Real fact. But an inveterate lover of literature in his own words in an interview with a Spanish magazine.

The context is the dirty war in Mexico in the 70s (dirty, because it was a covert war against the same population). Guerrilla groups rose up in the states of Chihuahua, Morelos and Guerrero. The military attacked towns because they were looking for members of the guerrillas, taking their families as hostages and killing them. During those dates they had disappeared. They were guerrillas because they lived in poverty (as can be seen) and to ask for better living conditions was to criticize the PRI governments of that time. In order not to lose power and authority, they attacked the guerrillas and disappeared his family. These operations were covered with Operation Condor, where it was said that the army was looking for drug traffickers (while allying itself for money and plunging into corruption with the Guadalajara cartel.)

I did not know that this film existed, it is very strong in the beginning but that is exactly what it should reflect, things as they are, all the marginalization that they experience, it is so well done, all the performances are impeccable. Much stronger and more challenging than other famous Mexican movies. This movie should have been more honored.

This cinema does not interest people, due to the tremendous ignorance that exists, in addition to the complexes of many Mexicans.

It's sad that "Cindy la Regia" or "La Loca Vida de los Mierdéz" (I know it doesn't exist, but as if it did) have a better reception. For that and many other things, we will not go beyond being a third world town. Additional note: Did you see that in the minute 1:38:39 is "El Sardo" (Who accompanied the Sergeant in the movie "El Infierno")?

This movie reminds me of a musical tour that I did in Mexico 15 years ago. The music of Tierra Caliente is from Guerrero. I made recordings in the countryside and town of many musicians from Guerrero and Michoacán at that time, including the most original and talented violinists and harpists from Tierra Caliente. The music there is to burst the heart with pure emotion. Search Juan Reynoso Portillo for the best example of that type of music that takes the most important role in this beautiful film.

This film is a work of art, it is a shame that a churro by Eugenio Derbez is more widely publicized, which is a great work, the comment that Felipe Calderón censored it calls my attention 😡 those anti-Mexicans are so classist that they cannot bear the harsh reality much less a movie where tasty girls and white people do not come out that makes it bigger I hope there could be more dissemination of this work, the truth is that when I saw it I was moved I give it ✨✨✨✨✨

Roma and El Violin are very good movies. Unfortunately, Cuarón's work was made from the perspective he had as a child. It is the story of a director who honors a person in his life; because of that, people don't totally connect with the movie. And I mean, there are tastes. But it is a movie worth seeing, well made and proudly Mexican. But El Violin; of course it is a more badass and strong movie. Greetings!
