5.0 out of 5 starsJust What I Needed...

"Secrets of Aboriginal Healing" seems to have come at a point in my life just when I needed something encouraging and uplifting. The story of Gary Holz, who went from a progressing MS patient with a limited time left to a healed condition is remarkable.
Holz's experience with the Australian Aborigines, who live so simply and yet find fulfillment that we in the "civilized" world rarely do, is inspiring, and reminds us that material goods and acquititions are just distractions from who we really are inside.
The techniques and processes that the Aboriginals used to reprogram Gary's mindset, both about himself and the world around him, are easily implemented, and rely on common sense and holistic healing processes, where the entire being - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, are all taken into account. Having used some of the techniques myself, I can attest to the fact that they WORK.
The book is only 114 pages, but it's written concisely and to-the-point, partly from being transcribed from actual recordings from the sessions in the Outback. The information was very useful to me, and I hope that you might glean the same success from it.

5.0 out of 5 starsA Read That is Easy, Quick and Profound!

"Secrets of Aboriginal Healing - A Physicists Journey With a Remote Australian Tribe" is a book by Gary Holz about his struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and how he overcame its effects through the system of healing and spirituality of the aborigines of the Australian Outback. Holz was a physicist and businessman who began to encounter neurological difficulties in his extremities. He tried to ignore them but over time they got worse. He finally went for a series of tests and was told he likely had Multiple Sclerosis (MS), for which there was no cure. His physical capabilities continued to deteriorate and he had to start using a wheelchair. When he was 43 his doctors told him he had less than two years to live as his internal organs were shutting down.

His book tells how through an extraordinary series of events and effort he ended up in a village of the aborigines in the Australian Outback in search of a cure for his disease. There, under the care of two healers who were themselves aborigines but who also lived in the Westernized cities of modern "civilization" he took on the totality of a system of spirituality and belief that led to his regaining his body from his debilitation condition. The methodology is somewhat reminiscent of Freud in that it involved delving into his subconscious to find the life traumas that had led to his disease. Under the caring guidance of his healers, he absorbed the highly spiritual world view of the aborigines and learned to tap into his inner healing power. He lived well beyond the two years his Western doctors had given him. His extraordinary experience inspired him to tell his story, spread knowledge about emotional and spiritual basis of the world of the Australian aborigines, and become a healer himself.

This book is a fascinating narrative. Toward the beginning, he is told that the people of the village knew he was coming four months before he knew himself. At the end, he learns how they knew this. It is highly engaging, an easy read, and a "page turner." I can recommend it to anyone who has an interest in indigenous, holistic systems of healing or is looking for an introduction to the highly spiritual universe of the aboriginal tribes of Australia. While it is not a "how-to" book on curing MS, it does offer an alternative, psychologically-based view of its origins. The world view and life lessons presented in this book can have application for all of us. I am grateful to my brother-in-law for introducing my wife and I to this book.

5.0 out of 5 starsProfound, Practical, Powerful

I didn't want this book to end! In a nutshell, it's kryptonite to pain, whether mental, physical, emotional or spiritual. What Gary learned in the Outback should be taught in schools and certainly could be used by any adult to heal from the inside out. I've often thought that we spend our "adulthoods" coming to terms with our childhoods and this book explains why that's true.

I've also had the privilege of having Gary work on me before he passed on to higher realms, and I've felt the power of being carried in love, like being buoyed on a cloud infused with a healing love that touched me and everyone I encountered.

This book was inspiring, to say the least. I read this hoping to gain some insight into how I might cure my rheumatoid arthritis, and I was not disappointed. I found the message within the book to be largely related to the emotional component of autoimmune diseases, and this is something I've been focusing on in attempting to cure my own RA. I've noticed that I always feel better when I deal with my emotional "stuff."

I appreciate that the author had not fully cured his MS, but rather found solace in small improvements to the disease. I learned a lot from this book. It was simple to read and authentic in its message.

I highly recommend for anyone seeking answers to why they struggle with disease. I believe in the power of the mind, and this book absolutely verified that the mind is at the core of disease. I love learning about the Australian Aboriginals, and I only wished I could have gotten even a deeper insight into their culture -- but that wasn't the experience of the author. I can totally appreciate that. Loved the book.

"Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. It's is an easy read because you forget you are actually "reading" and not sitting there with Gary Holz experiencig Ray, Rose and the tribe. Gary's innermost thoughts and feelings are so honest and real and I can relate to his experience. What a gift We have been given, the Universe, the Aboriginal tribe, Dr. Holz and, last but not least, Robbie Holz for her courage and tenacity to "get er done" so that this healing is available to anyone that desires to change their thinking and change their life. Now with the second edition the pictures connect the reader even more in real time with the events. Pictures make the journey more real, tangible and personal."

A exciting story of how the real healing takes place. This is something you might need to read if you are suffering from any illness. It gets to the root of why we are sick and how to heal. I found it very good. I want to give it to everyone. Altho you have to believe and do the work. Sp it won't work for everyone but it could.

5.0 out of 5 starsMore very clear evidence that our beliefs cause our dis-eases in life!

More and more we are learning how our beliefs and our emotions are a root cause of our experiencing of diseases in life. Gary Holz presents a wonderful story of his own experiences in overcoming his debilitating and rapidly declining health with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). As a successful scientist with absolute beliefs that there is no such thing as Spirits or alternative healing methods, he is faced with only a few months to live, when he finds himself following his "intuition" and travels to Australia to live in an Aboriginal village and be healed by the village healers. During his stay, his whole belief system is "re-programmed" to the understanding that we are all connected and actually are the "creators" of our own lives, and dis-eases. He learns that by changing our beliefs, we can bring about greater health, happiness, and real wealth in our lives. Gary recovered from his MS and went on to becoming a very successful healer in his own right. We have so much we can learn from the Aboriginal cultures of the world, and the future of medicine and healing is to be found in these ancient practices.

4.0 out of 5 starsInteresting Perpective On Healing

This was a interesting book. Basically, you need to clear out the garbage from your past in order to stay healthy. I actually enjoyed reading about the Aboriginies and their life style more than the authors' transformation.....but, that just may be me. Very small book so don't expect a large volume.

I had hoped for more information on exact things that happened after the healing. I was disappointed in that aspect. The story was good and I enjoyed it. It's a better library book then a book to purchase.
