초록

During the Second World War, particularly in 1944, three thousand Koreans were mobilized to Okinawa as forced laborers and worked as military civilian employees. Based on the National Mobilization Law and the Executive Order of National Draft(國民徵用令), the two laws which sustained Japanese total war system, they received the draft card on late June 1944 and were formed as Special Coast Guard Service Unit(特殊水上勤務隊) in Daegu around July 10th. At this time when Japanese Army was just around the corner, Okinawa was sacrificed to delay Japanese surrender. Three thousand Koreans from Gyeongsangbukdo Province were forcibly mobilized as laborers for the support of war. These laborers were under 50 years old and were born before November 1923 except for those who had reached the age of conscription. The mobilization took place in a rush. There were a few evaders during the mobilization but those who could not escape were stationed at Okinawa under strict observation. They were forcily mobilized into Japanese war and Many of them became victims of war.
