Lucio Cabañas, maestro rural guerrerense asesinado por el ejército en 1974, encabezó uno de los movimientos guerrilleros más importantes en México durante los años sesenta y setenta. Su recuerdo y la memoria de la lucha campesina en la sierra de Guerrero que tantos muertos y desaparecidos ha dejado a su paso, permanecen vivos aún y representan un símbolo libertario de compromiso por los pobres. Los testimonios de ex-guerrilleros y compañeros de armas, de simpatizantes, de familiares y sobrevivientes, de historiadores y sociólogos, no sólo reconstruyen la historia de Cabañas, sino que contribuyen a la reflexión sobre las causas y la recurrencia de los movimientos armados en la lucha social que han caracterizado al México convulso del último siglo.
