The False Messiah is Volume I of a monumental history of the Israel-Palestine conflict, Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews, by a seasoned reporter with a vast first-hand knowledge of the Middle East. It is the first book to put the struggle for Palestine into its global context—to show how all the pieces of a complicated jig-saw puzzle fit together. It’s also the first ever account of events to address the motives, needs, and dilemmas faced by all sides: diaspora Jews’ real fear of Holocaust II; the Palestinian right to justice and self-determination; the legitimate anger of the Arab masses at American support for Zionism right or wrong; and the inevitable corruption and repression of the regimes of the existing Arab Order who, fearing harsher Israeli assaults, have tried to contain them. As a former BBC Panorama and ITN Middle East correspondent, Alan Hart knew and interviewed most of the main players in the Israel-Palestine conflict (Golda Meir, Moshe Dayan, Shimon Peres, Yasser Arafat and other PLO leaders, George Habash, Nasser, King Hussein of Jordan, King Feisal of Saudi Arabia, and many others). He also exhibits a wealth of research into a full spectrum of viewpoints, to unearth how and by whom the levers of US policy in the Middle East have been pulled from pre-creation of Israel to the end of the Clinton era. Hart takes us well beyond the existing written record, weaving events play by play/player by player, prying out the motivating factors and sequences of events which the surface flow of official histories leave uncovered, where, truly, the devil is in the details. This series is key to understanding US/Israeli relations as developed over the long term, and who has been the primary determiner of policy in the region.

Review
"In this extraordinary book, Alan Hart has succeeded in elucidating for us the immediate and long term dangers involved in the unconditional Western support for Zionism and its oppressive policies against the Palestinians. The author provides us with a chilling exposure of how this embrace developed and continues to endanger the Jewish existence and fuels the anti-Semitism that refuses to disappear. Motivated by a genuine concern for peace in Israel and Palestine and beyond in the world at large, Alan Hart has written not only a strong indictment of Zionism, based on both research and personal experience, but also provided us with a charter for a better future..."

5.0 out of 5 stars Exploration of Zionism and how it is poisoning both Israel & USA ... resultant boycott (729-xxx)Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2016

With 27% one-star reviews by Jewish sounding surnames this book has been the lightening rod for Zionist castigation. Ironically, it was this large number of negative reviews that compelled me to choose this book over all others. Clearly author Hart has exposed a raw nerve that required exploration.
I read most the negative reviews and none admit that Zionism is new (Hertzl, 1897) and is anti-Jewish – promoting atheism, racism, ethnic cleansing, genocide with raw hatred at its emotional core. I wanted hard answers and not euphemisms and these three volumes canvass Zionism in detail. So I read this book and I now have a deep understanding of how Zionism has poisoned not only Israel but the USA inclusive of Jews and Christians alike.
The author knew that this book would cause a s***storm and fully annotated this book to be a rigorous analysis of Zionist activities and teachings. He carefully points out that true Jews have avoided this demagoguery and coined new words (anti-Zionist, secular Jew, old Jew etc.) to distinguish themselves from this faction of fire eaters.
Israeli atrocities have been sanitized from the American media so that few Americans know what Israel has been doing -- Rachel Corrie, Mavi Marmara, USS Liberty, Deir Yassin, King David Hotel, planting knives on elderly women & teenagers murdered by the IDF, wanton murder of children playing soccer on the beach, the uprooting of olive trees & spraying herbicides on Palestinian food crops, etc. Search ‘How does Israel treat Israeli Christians?' Ouch! Or explore 'How are Ethiopian Jews treated inside Israel?' Double ouch! Google ‘What do Israelis think of Americans?’ Ouch X 3!
The IDF polices the world's largest prison camp named Gaza. What are contraband items inside Gaza ― chocolate, potato chips, musical instruments, children's spiral notebooks, A4 printer paper and other similar "weapons of terror". Gaza bespeaks Andersonville, Buchenwald and the Warsaw Ghetto all rolled into one.
Why don't American Jews stand up to Zionism? Only two explanations -- either they tacitly agree with the Zionists or know they will be severely castigated by the Zionist component of American Jewry and self-censor themselves into cowardly silence.
Only after exploring these issues will one understand why the Middle East today is such a hellhole – a hellhole largely of USA’s making by condoning all Israeli practices & suppressing the Palestinian statehood movement.
Adolf Hitler would be immensely proud of these Zionists who have followed his anti-Semitic practices by simply substituting the names of the victims (Arabs) for (Jews) and you get is what these Zionists are today -- Neo-Nazis, or "Neoconservatives" using Orwellian Newspeak. George Bush once asked his father Bush-41 the definition of "Neoconservative" and Bush Senior answered back, "Do you want names or description?" "Description" said Bush-43 and Bush-41 gave a one word answer, "Israel".
The Sharpeville Massacre in 1960 initiated the boycott movement against the apartheid practices in South Africa. The outrage against their treatment of Blacks promoted divestiture of SA investments and the avoidance of SA products. In 1994 the SA government imploded due to the cumulative 34 year worldwide boycott + divestiture. This was the year African Americans became fully human for the first time in 250+ years.
There is a growing boycott movement against Israel attempting to replicate the SA experience. This is done by avoiding Israeli products with barcodes beginning with 729. This book has helped me to understand that in order to bring Israel into compliance with humanity we must not allow the Israeli hate machine to metastasize further otherwise Jews of the world will face the mother of all nightmares ... Holocaust-2.

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure trove of real-time history you won't find anywhere elseReviewed in the United States on November 14, 2013

This three-book series is historical, enlightening, and contains info you won't find anywhere else. I discovered Avner Cohen writing a whitewash of the facts in Hart's series in an Op-Ed in the NYT within the last two months (Cohen didn't name Hart). Since most people rarely research, Cohen's 'set of facts' will probably prevail as truth.
But Alan Hart was there; he was the lead Middle East reporter for ITN (think that's the name of the network), and reported for the BBC, in England. Hart got the interviews with Golda Meir and Sadat and Yassir Arafat. Cohen didn't. Hart was the one sitting with Meir in her study for hours while Meir's Knesset cabinet cooled their heels in Meir's kitchen waiting to talk to her. Not Cohen. Hart was at Golda Meir's deathbed at her request, and heard her final words. Cohen wasn't.
Hart covered the important Middle East wars. He is the Middle East's Edward R Murrow. He doesn't spare either side and he obviously had close personal relationships with both Golda Meir and Yassir Arafat. It's not hard to believe that both of them trusted Hart to tell the truth and present them fairly.
The only unfortunate thing about this series is the title. It should have been titled "Golda, Sadat, and Me" or "Golda, Yassir, and Me" because it reflects the insider info you're getting far more accurately. The current title may be one of the conclusions you're left with, but it's not the meat of the series. I think Hart's editors were trying to kill his book with that title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Courageous truthReviewed in the United States on May 28, 2010

Alan Hart does an excellent job in explaining what should be obvious to anyone taking an objective view on the terror that Zionism has caused not just the Jews, but the entire world. This subject is of course taboo and won't even be approached by traditional media sources, yet it's a common mainstream topic on the internet. Of course, it's also the primary reason that the powers that be are trying to sensor the internet!
Hart does what needs to be done, go back into history to demonstrate how Zionism has shaped the western world's view of international relations and politics by using the shield and sword of antisemitism. Without going into detail (which he could have and should have)Hart explains how propaganda has turned into Zionist mythology and none more so than the Holocaust story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Factual Account of What Really Happened in IsraelReviewed in the United States on June 25, 2013

A factual, historical account of what really happened in Israel. If you are looking for more Zionist propaganda, you won't find it here. This is the true story about how the Zionists snowed the world and seized control of Palestine, while exterminating the people who lived there, and forced them out of their homes. This series includes factual accounts of meetings that took place, military procurements (arms smuggling) by the Zionists, the Arab countries who would not engage to stop the Zionists, and much more.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to convince a Christian who supports Zionism. Encourage them to read this, and have a second look at the Palestine question.

This is a book that should be required reading of every American. Congressional people especially would learn a great deal. Perhaps then they would not behave so irresponsibly and so against our national interest.
Alan Hart is an honest and reliable writer. Those who already know a great deal about Zionism and Israel will find in it an excellent review of what they know. Americans who get their news from the media will find information they have never heard before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zionism and its threat to JewsReviewed in the United Kingdom on July 29, 2012
Verified Purchase
Here we have an eminently readable book about that part of the world destined to plague us to the end of time unless our presidents, politicians and the UN, all together, stop their ostrich-like behaviour and do what we pay them to do: bring peace to the Middle East for both parties principally concerned, the Palestinians and the Israelis. It should be remembered, however, that peace in the Middle East means peace everywhere and it concerns us all, especially as Israel has more atom bombs than any other nation in the world and is, hysterically, the most likely to use them setting off an unstoppable chain reaction.
Not only does Alan Hart give a succinct résumé of Jewish history proving that the Jews have as much right to Palestine as the Romans to Britain, but he also provides an excellent overview of the damaging influence of Lobbies in US politics: though the US prides itself on its Government of the People for the People, this is a long-running, endlessly disproven yet constantly propagated myth and until this is realized there will be no peace for anyone. The US "democracy" is one of Government of the Lobbies for the Lobbies, ie. it is democratic in name only. From the beginning of the 20th Century the lobby to vie with was that of the Zionists with their endless bullying, threatening and often murderous tactics. After WWII it was still the Zionists but now armed with the Holocaust card, which, by the way, should currently be called the Shoah card.
Alan Hart presents a very well researched history of how, by constant waving of the Holocaust card, the State of Israel came about. In a moment of surprising honesty, he admits to having taken in exclusively the Jewish point of view for far too long, while ignoring the Palestinian one, that is to say, not considering the Palestinian point at all. Then he saw the light.
The main premise of the book is that if Zionist Israel continues to behave as it has done for the past 64 years, the world will eventually turn against it and those who pay the highest price for the Israeli misdeeds will not be the Zionists, ie. the real perpetrators of all the evil, but the ordinary, peace loving Jews wherever in the world they live, who, even now, would happily accept a Palestinian State. Hence the book's title.
Whether Hart's book will do any good and will eventually wake up the "powers that be" is still a moot point. Sufficient to say that since the publication of his book the situation has incredibly worsened with the 2012 Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, visiting Israel which, to all intents and purposes is still a foreign nation and not another US State, to ask that country's approval, blessing and influence in his efforts to become the next US President! Obama is shortly to follow Romney's lead. It would appear that the 2012 US Presidential elections will be decided in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. An ironic situation for the USA, constantly telling all others how to be democratic without ever having discovered how to do it for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking, almost frighteningReviewed in Germany on February 17, 2012

This book is highly recommended reading. The author breaks several taboos that you will have long since become accustomed to by reading countless other books on the subject of "Israel and its origins". These include:
1) Political Zionism is not the same as religious Zionism. The centuries-long supporters of the latter were only to a small extent enthusiastic or impressed by the emergence of the former.
2) At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Jews were indeed a global religious community with a distinctive culture, but they are not a people in the historical ethnological sense.
3) And as such, as a non-people, it is never possible to formulate a historical claim of ownership for them to the regions that we know today as Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Jordan, which in its stringency could even come close to the claim that the Arabs who had lived there for centuries had to the same areas around 1900.
4) Without the constant demands and demands for promises from the British to the political Zionists, there would never have been a Balfour Declaration.
5) However, in order to keep all the promises made to the Zionists (for which they had also received something in return in the First World War), the British had to repeatedly reduce and ultimately break the written promises made to the Arabs (from whom they had received nothing less than a decisive contribution in advance in the fight against the Turks to ensure that they did not emerge as losers from the First World War). The fact that all of Arabia would be granted independence at the end of the First World War, as promised in writing, never came to pass.
6) Palestine's status as a British protectorate under the mandate of the League of Nations was followed by the immigration of further Jews under the orders of the Zionists, which the British permitted to the limit of the Arabs' tolerance. Arabs were consulted, but were ignored in determining their own fate.
7) The anti-Semitism of the Nazi era was not exclusively the antithesis of Zionism. There was also a joint effort, even a calculation that the atrocities of one side could make the concerns of the other appear all the more justified in the eyes of the world via the refugee issue.
8) When the USA was prepared to take in a very large number of Jewish refugees from the many miserable camps in Europe after the Second World War, it was the Zionist leaders who did everything they could to ensure that the world did not find out about this offer. The relocation of the Jewish refugees to Palestine had to appear "unavoidable" in order to increase the pressure on all those who wanted to oppose further immigration there.
9) The opponents of further Jewish immigration included the Jewish communities that had been present there for centuries and feared for their status and the favorable treatment they would receive from the local rulers.
10) The Jews in Palestine immediately began to arm themselves, both openly and covertly, and to use these weapons - initially against the British, who made themselves hated by retaining what little power they had and by wanting to ensure that the Arabs had at least a minimum of the promised opportunities to have a say in the course of events.
11) The UN partition plan of 1947 provided for a disproportionate share of Palestine for the Jews compared to their share of the population at the time, but also that neither the Arabs nor the Jews would have control over Jerusalem. At no point did the core group of the Zionists have any intention of accepting this partition plan. The Arabs' "no" played into their hands, allowing them to say to the world: "They didn't want to."
12) The key to everything else was that the Zionists and their allies in the United States managed to combine their cause with their ability to raise funds and votes in election campaigns to drive a wedge into the internal political affairs and rivalries of a major power. James V. Forrestal, who was the only one to see through this and tried to undermine it, died a year after the unilateral declaration of a Jewish state of Israel under circumstances that have not yet been clarified. There was always talk of suicide by falling from the 16th floor of a mental institution from which he would have been released the following day. There are said to be people who tie the belt of their bathrobe tightly around their necks beforehand...
13) The Zionist leaders knew long before that the declaration of their state would immediately be followed by a war that they wanted to win at all costs, and had collected donations for military equipment in the USA for this purpose. Here, as in countless borderline situations afterward, the great worldwide sympathy in the aftermath of the Holocaust played into their hands. They knew how to play this card very well.
14) The Arabs were different. Completely paralyzed by rivalries and vanity, they could not even play the card with the turned off oil tap properly in order to preserve even the slightest right of the Arab inhabitants of Palestine to have a say in their fate.
For us today,
the hardliners and the honest among the political Zionists never wanted anything less than the territory of Palestine up to the Jordan for themselves. Everything else was just a cover-up to appease.
There are five functional-logical connections between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism. The first three and the last of these have a negative connotation: a) The similarity in nature of the hardliners among the political Zionists with the most cold-blooded and racist anti-Semites the world has ever seen. b) The Zionists' dealings and bargaining with the Nazis, sometimes with absolute indifference or even with cynical calculation of the fate of some of their fellow believers. c) A pro-Zionist attitude as a projection level for coming to terms with or internally fighting the anti-Semitism that one has discovered with horror in oneself, ultimately with the same connotations on both sides. d) Anti-Zionism as a masquerade for real anti-Semitism, which one believes can be lived out in a somewhat more politically correct way. Classic critics of the left and right in Germany because of their indelible anti-Semitism, such as Henryk Broder, always only talk about the connection under d), because there certainly is one. Finally, there is still the connection under e) - again with the opposite sign: Zionism, if it continues as self-righteously as it has done so far, not only has the best prospects of triggering a new, even greater wave of anti-Semitism, but is also consciously working with this apocalyptic prospect and the fears associated with it.
But this last point is the lesson from this stirring book in a nutshell: what haven't the media and especially the school books kept from us for decades! How effective was it that certain documents were kept secret for decades and only recently published?! In conjunction with the politically correct statements and the self-censorship of the media, most people have probably developed an image of Israel over the decades that is diametrically opposed to the one conveyed here.
And so I would like to say to anyone who now exclaims: "The author must be a Jew-hater!" counter: Golda Meir called him a good friend, and the task now is to set out and show in which points Alan Hart misrepresents the scientific core of history in the historical sense or in a one-sided abbreviation, and only secondly to discuss whether one would come to a different assessment given accepted facts. I suspect that the factual part of the argument would be fought out very quickly.
Every modern person who has a few hours to spare should read this book and recommend it to others. This reading is the living battle for enlightenment.

I really didn't want to put this book down until I'd finished it, which is the first time I've had this experience with a non fiction book. My purpose in reading this was to find out how, prior to the foundation of Israel, the Zionist lobby functioned, and the role of Britain in this tragedy after the Balfour declaration. My questions were largely answered in respect of Britain's role, and the machinations of the Zionists were largely uncovered. I did think Hart was rather kind about Truman, but his assessment was nonetheless objective and suitably qualified. The book is written in a journalistic style, but researched in the manner of a historian - Hart also brings his own long experience reporting on the Middle East to bear, and his conclusions are almost impossible to refute. It really is essential reading for anyone wishing to know the truth about the Zionist project.
