Life[edit]
Westover was born in a small town (pop. 234) in rural Idaho; her parents were Mormon survivalists who homeschooled their seven children haphazardly, with the exception of homesteading crafts and religious texts or devotional literature, yet from which she gained confidence in self-sufficiency and ability to acquire skills.[10] As a teenager, Westover read independently and was able to gain admission to Brigham Young University.[11] Westover graduated from Brigham Young with honours, earned a MPhil on a Gates scholarship at Cambridge University and was a visiting fellow at Harvard University before her return to Cambridge to complete her doctorate in history.[12][13]
Educated: A Memoir[edit]
Educated: A Memoir, Hutchinson (U.K.)/Random House (U.S.) ISBN 9780399590504, OCLC 986898537, is an account of Westover's childhood and education.[14][11][15]
