ALEX PODOLINSKY
Alex Podolinsky is a Bio-Dynamic pioneer who has driven the widespread and highly successful application of Bio-Dynamic farming in Australia, where every conceivable crop is produced Bio-Dynamically.
Alex (as he asks to be called) took up Steiner’s challenge of making the Bio-Dynamic method available to all farmers. By applying and refining the method on his own farm, and then by working closely with other farmers from a multitude of enterprises since the early 1950’s, he was able to bring the teachings of Steiner’s down to a more practical level. He was a passionate advocate of equality(link is external).
Alex was also the first to recognise that plants have two types of root systems -- one for the uptake of water and one with much finer white “hair roots” which are the feeder roots. With artifically fertilised or improperly managed systems, the feeder root system is often impared or even destroyed (read more(link is external)).
Alex has dedicated more than 60 years of his life to organics and has been a member of IFOAM - Organics International since the 1970s. The remarkable success Bio-Dynamics has achieved in Australia makes clear its enormous potential in global agriculture.
Linda Bullard (former President) of IFOAM - Organics International once wrote: “…I count myself very lucky to have been able to hear Alex Podolinsky lecture and then to see his teachings so effectively applied at Agrilatina. That soil transformation was a miracle! I have never seen anything like it!…”
