(8) Japan Inside - Japan must protect its own tankers as Trump demands... | Facebook

Japan must protect its own tankers as Trump demands an end to military freeloading.
Pressure is mounting on Prime Minister Takaichi to deploy the Self-Defense Forces to the Middle East.
Military expert Masahisa Sato warns that ignoring these demands is impossible because the security of the Strait of Hormuz is directly linked to the fate of Taiwan.
The phrase "Today’s Hormuz is tomorrow’s Taiwan" has sparked a massive debate regarding Japan's regional defense responsibilities.
President Trump has made his stance clear that Japan must stop relying on the American military for free maritime protection.
Experts suggest that if Japan refuses to secure its own energy lines, it weakens its position when asking for help regarding Taiwan's security.
The appointment of a new hardline leader in Iran ensures that this maritime crisis will be a long and dangerous struggle.
Japan now faces the ultimate choice between its pacifist traditions and the harsh reality of global geopolitical threats.

I think a lot of people are forgetting the treaty after WW2 left Japan with no standing military and a separate security pact was signed that the us would be able to keep military forces as an additional security force

This is the invitation of the world to awaken the Japanese military might. 👍👍👍Time to wake up sleeping samurai
Gregg Pastore
Yes! I’ve been waiting for Japan to rebuild its military. Give it a few years and giant fighting mechs will enter the battlefield.

Will it be a possibility that a military strong Japan and China plus Korea ganged up to form a eastern block to counter Western hegemony ?
Ryan Mcgouirk
🇺🇲🤝🇯🇵Japan we know you can do it 💪 🇯🇵 go back to your old ww2 ways show your enemies that you still know how to fight
Qaiss Khan
Then what American bases doing in Japan ?
Emilio Chaques
Soo thats mean Japan doesn't need the US military bases in Japan?
Bungus Bird
So much for Japan to jump in on Usa side few days ago.
Pete Franziskaner
Japan has the capability and they work hand-in-hand with the United States. It’s not going to be an issue. I feel like this particular web for Facebook pages not quite honest.
Al Gerlach
Who comes up with this anyway? 🤔

You can find sources where he's said he will protect tankers and that he won't. The point is that no one feels like they can rely on trump for any stability at all.
Mose Enock
That is why I like the steps the present PM has taken.

No… it’s actually an excuse for Japan to deploy their SDF outside Japan. They have been wanting to do this with actual armaments since Iraq.
Elton Carr
In other words, put in your order for more US military equipment 💰💰💰
Flinton James Rasmussen
He stated that if Iran hits any tankers traveling through the area that he would hit Iran harder than we ever have before ensuring they couldn't rebuild at all. So hes backing countries who need the oil and supporting them.
Edward Eberhardt
I thought Trump said he would escort ships through the straights
Trance Khaos
He said the opposite he going to protect tankers
勝 瑜
that is another way of saying he is allowing Japan to have their own military 😂

As a resident of Japan who pays taxes to fund the American military umbrella, I say if the US demands more aggressive Japanese military action outside of Japanese territory, then we should get a rebate on the BILLIONS of dollars Japan pays for American protection, and I should get a tax refund.
Guillaume Pierre Chavaneau
japan buys and hold huge us debt, no freeloading lol
Wilber Stewart
Time to get rid of the freeloading American bases on Japanese soil then.
Taiwan and Japan cannot rely on the US for defence with this statement by trump.
Nadeen Obianuju Hopkins
I agree with trump too many countries hide behind the usa while offering nothing but criticism
